Spiritual Lessons from a Kettle & a Grocery Store

Did you know that when your kettle is plugged in, but turned off, it's still tapped into the electrical current through its connection to the outlet?

A seemingly random question but keep it in mind for a moment.

I've been feeling sort of flat, levelled off, just kind of... here. It occurred to me when I was standing in the kitchen a moment ago that I've been feeling like a kettle that's plugged in but not turned on.

Check this out...

You know when you feel really drained and like things just aren't working out? That happens to us human beings when we are unplugged - from our spirit and Source/Creator/God. Not a great feeling, right?

Now imagine this...

You go to a retreat, or a great concert... or you do something else that just makes you feel amazing. How do you feel now? Don't you feel like that kettle after the switch is turned on? Bubbling up with energy? Don't you feel warm and like you're even heating up deep inside?

Well, I've been feeling like I'm somewhere in between. I have been feeling connected to my spirit for the past couple of weeks but I still felt like my light wasn't on - except for a few bursts of energy in between. It's been challenging for me to stay consistently positive and motivated.

That's what I mean about the kettle. It's like I was plugged into Source - and I do most often feel that connection - and yet, I couldn't find the ON switch to really shine.

I've been feeling like "What's next?" It's as if I've been standing in that one lineup at the grocery store. You know the one... it seems like the shortest but ends up being the longest. Finally you move to another one, thinking it will be quicker but the second you switch to that lineup, it stops moving and the checkout clerk calls for a price check. And then the line-up you left begins to move, right?

I think that's what happens to us sometimes... we get impatient and just when things are about to move, we look for another solution. You know what that is? It's us trying to take control of the flow of life force. And we can't. Not from that standpoint anyway.

Sometimes the best option is to just be... wherever you are on your journey. Just be. Sometimes energy needs to be released for us to get switched back on. Sometimes what we're waiting for really is just right around the corner, if only we could sit in acceptance long enough to catch our breath before the real ride begins!

Maybe all my energy was being stored up for the last 3 conferences I performed and spoke at. Or maybe Creator was putting together a special package for me and I needed to slow down to allow its creation... and to notice it when it comes!

Anyway, my switch has been turned back on, so to speak. Right after I got a call from a new healing client, I felt the wonderful familiar sensation of exuberant life force surging through my whole being. I LOVE that feeling and I know it can only happen when I'm plugged into Source and my spirit, which is the natural electrical pathway/circuit for human beings... but it's more than just having that connection.

You have to switch on the kettle to get the water to boil. You have to feel that connection to Source and your spirit.

And even if you know the connection is there - you have to activate the circuit between you, your spirit and Source. The switch needs to be turned on. And you do that by bringing joy, love, laughter, excitement and passion into your life... and sometimes by just waiting, listening within and letting yourself feel that connection as it arrives.

It's interesting that I was just on a teleclass by spiritual author Julia Rogers-Hamrick a couple of nights ago and now I feel the energy flowing like this. Not a coincidence.

In her teleclasses, Julia always leads us first in a guided meditation on "radiating love", which is so simple and so powerful. And now I can feel that I'm radiating love automatically! I encourage you to try it out. Julia has instructions in her lastest newsletter.

Now I don't want to promote leaving your appliances plugged in, because it actually does waste electricity. But what I will say is this...

Elder and healer Joanne Dallaire once said in a workshop, "Plug in" to your spirit. Julia Rogers-Hamrick said to "radiate love." Once you do those two things, you will feel better right away, plus it will get easier and easier every time.

Gratitude and New Connections

Well, I'm having an interesting day. My printer starting spitting out pages like a wild thing and then my computer froze. After a shutdown there were still issues and now I can't get into the World Gratitude Gathering forum.

This is just plain weird! I feel like I'm being locked right out of my online little world. I do realize Mercury's in retrograde until October 15th, so I guess this is par for the course, but wow...

It's interesting that What's Up On Planet Earth just did an update that says it's time for everything new, as the old falls away (I'm paraphrasing here). Maybe the energies are clashing. Well, that's the story I'm going with for now.

Well, for the moment, Blogger is still working, thankfully, so before anything else goes whacko on my computer, I'm posting my gratitude list for the end of this day!

Tonight I am grateful for...

1. The opportunity to leave the city for 2 days
2. My manager's creativity and support
3. My daughter's undying patience with me
4. My friend who trades off childcare with me
5. The printing I already did before my printer crashed
6. My sanity... althought that's questionable at the moment ;)
7. Blogger still works for me, so I can post this here!
8. My "Easy Now" herbal tea for stress relief

10. That I made it through today even though it's been frustrating

Clarity is Coming

Greetings!

Today is a day of further clearing for me, after the intense energies of yesterday and the day before flooding my whole being with so much light. So I'm sitting here drinking cedar water to help me release whatever might come up. I encourage you to drink an abundance of water in the following week to help you move this energy through you.

I'm excited. Really excited. And yet I can't even bring to mind what I'm excited about... it's a feeling of anticipation. Whenever I feel like this, something really big and really good is about to happen.

And my mind is saying "What could possibly top the past 2 days?!?" Well, I'll get back to that...

Last night's 08/08/08 Awakening event was truly amazing. I had been feeling the energy cresting all week. I felt like I was in the middle of an expanding bubble that was about to burst and spread positive energy everywhere. I think instead of bursting, that bubble just kept on expanding all night. In my sleep, I kept having cold and hot flashes, which is - well it never happens, this is the first time!

Today - for me - that bubble burst. All day it's been thunderstorming. And I LOVE it. Rain and thunder are very healing when you have respect and gratitude for them. The rain and thunder together come to cleanse Mother Earth and release built up pressure... in the air but also in us. And yesterday was one big build-up of energy!

One of the last songs I sang last night was Water From the Sky, upon request. That song brings rain when I sing it in ceremony, so I sang it a bit different and intended for it to rain today and not last night. Who knows if that song was responsible for today's rain or not, but either way, I am grateful for it.

Preparing for 080808

I don't know about you, but when I take in and begin to generate high levels of positive energy, emotions can come up to be released. Have you ever laughed so hard you cried? Or felt so happy or proud that tears came up? Those are healing tears. In my preparation for 08/08/08 Awakening, I had been doing meditation and other activities to raise my frequency and release what I no longer needed. And I released a lot of healing tears.

On August 7th, I went for a massage and ended up getting a miraculous energy activation. When I saw light coming out of what appeared to be holes all over my body, space was being made for me to receive light of a higher frequency (see blog post of August 7, 2008), and to make my body a clearer channel for the song and other energy to flow through.

One of the things I was doing was reading high vibration material on the Internet. I had just been looking at my friend Kiernan's blog when she called me on the phone. We'd been emailing back and forth about similar spiritual experiences in relation to this new energy.

Ever since we met in relation to a mutual television appearance and event we both presented at in the spring, I've had a feeling of spiritual synergy between Kiernan and me. We've recently had conversations about possibly working together in some way. And last night that synergy was taken to a whole new level through our healing work.

When Kiernan said she'd be coming to the 08/08/08 Awakening event, I invited her to share if and how she felt moved to. When she arrived, we didn't even need words to communicate how charged the energy was - not that we could find the words anyway! We were just buzzing with positive energy.

How the event unfolded

The (spiritual) light and energy in the room were so intense that my eyes were almost watering. As Kiernan and I spoke it came clear how we would work together using our gifts.

My role was to do a global Back to Your Blueprint Energy Activation. That means doing a smudging ceremony, traditional Aboriginal welcome song, guided meditation and then channeling a Medicine Song as I connect to Source, my spirit, the universal energy field and the group. I usually do other energy work afterward with my hands and medicine rattle as well, but not this time.

When Kiernan suggested that she act as a conduit of light to do what she calls a Divine Blueprint Activation for the group and globally, I got chills and it just felt right for both of us.

As I read the meditation, I could feel the energy in the room changing from fizzy to a slow motion flow of energy and a sense of everything being in its place. Once the song came through me, I could feel the familiar connection and flow of energies. Kiernan flowed light through her as I sang, and then I led a grounding meditation. It was very moving.

I held a sharing circle afterwards and it was fascinating to hear some of the results of our work together, complemented by this new energy. One woman had been doing Reiki during the activation, someone got an instant connection back to her true purpose, another person had been feeling angry beforehand and now felt at peace, and one of the cafe staff said she had a sudden dizzy spell as she walked by me and a friend before we had even begun. A friend of mine in Manitoba called me to say she felt the connection when she did the meditation from her place.

The local event in Toronto had a great turnout and positive results, and I am excited to hear what some of you experienced globally! I almost forgot! What could top the last 2 days?

What's coming... clarity. It may feel for many of us like we're in a fog for a bit but soon our inner sun will be shining and our minds will be clear. And with clarity will come inspiration. When inspiration strikes, just remember to dive in!
